⚖️ Panel Weight Calculator for Woodworking
Estimate the weight of solid timber or sheet-material panels.
This free tool helps you turn project measurements into a practical planning estimate. Enter values in Vaelden’s interactive calculator, review the result, and confirm important assumptions against supplier data, measurements, codes or qualified advice before committing materials or money.

How to calculate panel weight
Method: Panel weight = width × height × thickness × density × quantity
- Use finished panel dimensions.
- Obtain density from the actual sheet or timber product where possible.
- Multiply volume by density and quantity.
Worked example
Using these planning inputs:
- Panel width: 600
- Panel height: 1200
- Panel thickness: 18
- Material density: 700 kg/m³
- Quantity: 2
Estimated total weight: 18.14 kg
Reality check: Density changes with product and moisture. Check hardware ratings, lifting method and support using a suitable safety factor.
Before you calculate
Use consistent units and the best measured inputs available. Real materials, equipment, site conditions and tolerances can change the result. Vaelden shows planning estimates; regulated, structural, electrical, plumbing, pressure and other safety-critical work still requires appropriate local compliance and professional advice.
