How to calculate glue coverage
Method: Adhesive mass = glue-line area × coated faces × spread rate × waste allowance
- Calculate the actual glue-line area.
- Use the adhesive maker’s required one-face or two-face application.
- Apply the specified spread rate and allow modest handling loss.
Worked example
Using these planning inputs:
- Glue-line area: 3
- Coated faces per joint: 1
- Recommended spread rate: 180 g/m²
- Waste allowance: 12 %
Adhesive required: 605 g
