How to calculate lawn seed
Method: Seed mass = lawn area × sowing rate × overlap allowance
- Measure the prepared soil area.
- Use the seed supplier’s rate for the species and establishment method.
- Allow modest overlap, then divide seed for even cross-direction spreading.
Worked example

- Extra for overlap: 10 %
