How to calculate fastener spacing
Method: Fasteners per run follow spacing intervals plus required end fasteners, multiplied by run count
- Measure each fastening run.
- Use spacing from the applicable assembly detail.
- Add specified end fasteners, then multiply by identical runs.
Worked example
Using these planning inputs:
- Number of fixing runs: 4
- Length of each run: 2.4
- Maximum spacing: 200
- End fasteners per run: 2
Estimated fasteners: 52
Reality check: This counts fasteners only; type, diameter, length, edge distance, embedment and corrosion resistance must follow the design.
