How to calculate print profit

Method: Profit = sale price − true cost − selling fees; margin = profit ÷ sale price

  1. Use full true cost, including labour and failures.
  2. Enter actual sale price and platform or payment fees.
  3. Calculate profit, margin and markup separately.

Worked example

Using these planning inputs:

Profit: A$15.75

Reality check: Positive unit margin does not cover every overhead, return, tax, licensing or support obligation.

Before you calculate

Use consistent units and the best measured inputs available. Real materials, equipment, site conditions and tolerances can change the result. Vaelden shows planning estimates; regulated, structural, electrical, plumbing, pressure and other safety-critical work still requires appropriate local compliance and professional advice.
