How to calculate roofing sheets
Method: Sheets per plane = ceiling(roof width ÷ effective cover width)
- Measure roof width perpendicular to the sheet run.
- Use effective cover width after side laps, not overall sheet width.
- Confirm sheet length, end laps, overhangs and number of roof planes.
Worked example
Using these planning inputs:
- Roof width: 8
- Slope length: 4.5
- Effective sheet cover: 0.762
- Roof planes: 2
Sheets required: 22
