📊 Energy Use Calculator for Electrical
Estimate consumption and cost from power, duty cycle and run time.
This free tool helps you turn project measurements into a practical planning estimate. Enter values in Vaelden’s interactive calculator, review the result, and confirm important assumptions against supplier data, measurements, codes or qualified advice before committing materials or money.

How to calculate energy use
Method: Energy = power × operating hours × duty cycle; cost = energy × tariff
- Use measured operating power.
- Estimate hours over the chosen period.
- Apply realistic duty cycle and the applicable energy tariff.
Worked example
Using these planning inputs:
- Rated or measured power: 1000 W
- Elapsed time: 8 h
- Average duty cycle: 60 %
- Energy tariff: 0.3 currency/kWh
Energy consumed: 4.800 kWh
Reality check: Variable-speed loads, startup, standby and time-of-use tariffs require interval measurement for stronger estimates.
Before you calculate
Use consistent units and the best measured inputs available. Real materials, equipment, site conditions and tolerances can change the result. Vaelden shows planning estimates; regulated, structural, electrical, plumbing, pressure and other safety-critical work still requires appropriate local compliance and professional advice.
