How to calculate electrical power

Method: Single-phase real power = RMS voltage × RMS current × power factor

  1. Use RMS voltage and current for the same operating condition.
  2. Obtain power factor from measurement or reliable equipment data.
  3. Keep real power and apparent power distinct.

Worked example

Using these planning inputs:

Real power: 1035.00 W
