How to calculate self-consumption value

Method: Daily value = self-consumed solar × import tariff + exported solar × feed-in tariff

  1. Estimate daily solar energy available.
  2. Separate energy used onsite from energy exported.
  3. Value onsite use at the avoided import tariff and exports at the actual feed-in tariff.

Worked example

Using these planning inputs:

Daily energy value: A$2.24

Reality check: Interval-meter data is much stronger than one annual percentage because load and solar output vary by hour and season.
